The 5-Minute Reservation Timer

When a customer proceeds to checkout, their selected site is temporarily held to prevent double-bookings.

Updated over 2 months ago

When a customer proceeds to checkout, their selected site is temporarily held to prevent double-bookings.

How It Works

  1. When a customer submits their booking details, a 5-minute countdown timer starts.

  2. The selected campsite is reserved (held) for that customer during this period.

  3. Other customers cannot book the same site while it is held.

  4. The timer is displayed in the payment page header alongside the Complete Payment heading, showing the remaining time in minutes and seconds.

What Happens When Time Runs Out

If the customer does not complete payment within 5 minutes:

  • The reservation is automatically released.

  • The site becomes available to other customers.

  • The customer is redirected away from the payment page.

  • They can start the booking process again if the site is still available.

Why 5 Minutes?

The 5-minute window balances giving customers enough time to enter payment details while preventing sites from being locked up by abandoned checkouts.
